Report on teacher qualifications meeting
A round–table discussion on professional qualifications for psychology teachers was held on Saturday 6th February 2010 at Stirling University as part of the ATPS 9th Annual Conference. Chaired by Bridget Hanna of the British Psychological Society, participants included representatives of the Scottish Government, HMIE, education faculties and SQA, as well as the psychology teaching associations in Scotland (ATPS), the UK (ATP) and Europe (EFPTA). ATPS pressed the case for teaching qualifications (i.e. BEd and PGDE) in Psychology as a main subject on an equal footing with other major teaching subjects.
