ATPS 10th ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Will be held on Saturday 5th February 2011
STIRLING MANAGEMENT CENTRE, Stirling University Campus.
It has been decided to hold the next ATPS conference on Saturday 5th February 2011. The event is going to be held at Stirling Management Centre, the venue of the successful conferences in 2010 and 2008. This was decided partly on the basis of responses of the survey to members, and because the facilities have always been of a very good standard. Provisional times are 9.30 a.m. to 4.15 p.m.
The programme of lectures, workshops and other activities is currently under discussion by the ATPS committee. Proposals or suggestions would be very welcome: please contact "events @ atps.org.uk".
ATPS 9th ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Was held on Saturday 6th February 2010
STIRLING MANAGEMENT CENTRE, Stirling University Campus.
Conference theme: Teaching Psychology in Scotland - what the future holds
This event proved to be a unique and valuable professional development for Psychology teachers and lecturers, including many new and prospective teachers.
The Conference offered opportunities for sharing ideas and good practice in learning, teaching and assessment in Psychology in the excellent conference facilities at Stirling Managment Centre. In the morning, workshop sessions were held on Higher and HN psychology, and a plenary on eating disorders was delivered by Dr Paula Collin of the Tayside Eating Disorder Service.
The early afternoon featured an examination of the issues faced by many teachers of Psychology in the quest to gain GTCS registration in their subject, with input from major stakeholders such as teacher education institutions and the Scottish Government. This took the form of a round table discussion before the audience of delegates, and it is hoped it will lead to improvements in provision of registration categories and training.
The ATPS Annual General Meeting 2010 was then held, followed by a session on the current and future psychology NQs from SQA's Mary Hainey and Marie Morrison.
There were also updates from ATP UK and the European Federation of Psychology Teachers Associations (EFPTA) during the day.
